Heavy Vehicle HVAC

Air Conditioning.
Heavy Assets. SA-Wide.

A failed air conditioning system in a heavy equipment cabin isn't just uncomfortable — in a South Australian summer it's a health and safety risk that pulls your operator off the machine. Heavy vehicle HVAC is a different discipline to passenger cars. The systems are larger, more complex, and operating in conditions that demand specialist knowledge and equipment.

Setpoint has been servicing heavy vehicle air conditioning across South Australia for over 10 years. We come to your site — mine, quarry, depot, or yard — and carry out the work where your fleet operates. No workshop drop-off, no transport costs, no days lost waiting for a slot.

⚠ A failed compressor can stand a machine down for days. Compressor failure is one of the most common and costly HVAC breakdowns in heavy equipment — and in most cases it can be identified before it fails. Scheduled maintenance checks refrigerant levels, compressor performance, belts, and system pressure — catching the warning signs before they become a breakdown.

ARCtick licensed. All refrigerant work carried out by licensed technicians to Australian regulatory standards — with full documentation provided.

What We Do

HVAC Services

On-site across SA — scope depends on what your machine needs.

Fault Diagnosis

Advanced diagnostics to find root cause — compressor, condenser, evaporator, electrical, or refrigerant faults. We fix the problem, not the symptom.

Refrigerant Service

Full refrigerant recovery, vacuum, leak test, and recharge to ARCtick standards. R134a and R1234yf carried. All work fully documented.

Component Replacement

Compressor, condenser, evaporator, expansion valve, receiver/drier, blower motor, and hose replacement. Common parts carried on-vehicle.

Servicing & Maintenance

Scheduled servicing — filters, condenser and evaporator cleaning, belt inspection, refrigerant check, and system performance testing.

Sleeper & Bunk Units

Sleeper and bunk air conditioning serviced and maintained on cab-over prime movers — refrigerant service, filter replacement, and fault diagnosis.

OEM Warranty Work

Authorised to carry out HVAC warranty repairs on Komatsu, Cavpower, and Hyundai Heavy Equipment — on-site, to manufacturer standard.

Service Programs

Planned Maintenance.
Less Downtime.

Reactive breakdowns cost far more than planned maintenance. Setpoint offers three service options for fleet operators.

Pre-Start HVAC Check

A single on-site inspection before the machine goes back into service — after a shutdown, between contracts, or any time of year. Catches problems before they become breakdowns.

  • Full system pressure and performance test
  • Refrigerant level check
  • Condenser and filter inspection
  • Belt and drive inspection
  • Written report with recommendations

Scheduled Fleet Maintenance

Regular servicing intervals built around your operating schedule. Best for fleet operators who want predictable maintenance costs and fewer reactive callouts.

  • Agreed service intervals — by time or machine hours
  • Scheduled around your production windows
  • Full documentation per machine per visit
  • Priority response for breakdowns between services
  • Can include auto electrical and filtration

Don't wait for a breakdown. A Pre-Start HVAC check before the machine goes back into service is the most cost-effective way to avoid unplanned downtime — any time of year.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do you come to site or does the machine need to come in?

−

We come to you — mine, quarry, depot, or yard, anywhere in SA. For jobs that require a workshop environment, we also operate a small facility at our Wingfield base in Adelaide.

My air con is blowing but not cold — what's usually the cause?

+

The most common causes are low refrigerant charge (usually from a leak), compressor failure, condenser blockage, a faulty expansion valve, or an electrical fault in the control circuit. The right answer is a proper diagnosis before spending money on refrigerant — a refrigerant service on a leaking system just delays the real problem.

Can you handle warranty HVAC work on our machines?

+

Yes — for Komatsu, Cavpower, and Hyundai Heavy Equipment. We carry out HVAC warranty repairs to manufacturer standard on-site, without requiring machine transport to a dealer.

Can you service Icepack sleeper and bunk units?

+

Yes. Setpoint services sleeper and bunk air conditioning units on prime movers and cab-over trucks — refrigerant service, filter replacement, and fault diagnosis. Sleeper units are often overlooked in scheduled maintenance and tend to fail at the worst possible time.

Can you combine HVAC with auto electrical or filtration in the same visit?

+

Yes. Because we cover HVAC, auto electrical, and cabin filtration under one team, a single callout can service all three systems — one visit, less downtime, one set of paperwork.
